English For Specific Purpose (ESP): Future Entreprenuers
What is English for specific purposes?
English for Specific Purposes is a program for teaching English as second/foriegn language with a focus on developing the student's communicative competence in a specific discipline such as Information Technology, business, teaching, and engineering.
Each program
1. Will be designed to meet the specific needs of the learners.
2. Will be organized around specific themes that are related particular disciplines or vocation.
3. Will use the most commonly used phrases and vocabulary in that discipline.
Programs will be offered based on the students' interests and the number of enrollement.
For Summer 2021: We are offerring English For Entreprenuers
- Who is the program for?
- The program is for students who are interested in developing English language skills for business and entrepreneurship.
- Students who want to be "temeporarily virtually" exposed to Canadian workplace and experience the innovative start-up of some Canadian and American bussinesses. The program offers real questions and answers with entreprenuers as guest speakers from different sectors and industries.
2. What is the learning outcome?
As an active participants you will:
- You will learn how to say a 1-minute elevator pitch for a new product or service.
- You will develop an authentic perspective of different bussiness as a result of your interaction with different entreprenuers (the guset speakers).
- You will be able to present your product or service in a structured and innovative way. This is will be your final project and you will get different feedbacks.
Curriculum
The program curriculum will focus on language opjectives as well as course opjectives
Course opjectives: Students will be taught the most commonly and highly needed bussiness vacbs and concepts to effectively present their ideas, e.g., presenting a SWOT analysis, and preparing an elevator pitch and they will acquire specific skills such as researching and comparing the markets.
Language Objectives: This program requires that the students are in the intermediate or advanced level. The language objectives will focus on developing the student's professional communication skills and workplace skills by providing activities that promote team work, collaboration, persuasive argument, etc.
